Athletic Training

The Athletic Training Department at East Texas Baptist University is comprised of Nationally Certified and State Licensed athletic trainers who are committed to providing the best possible medical care to our student-athletes. Athletic Trainers (ATs) are health care professionals who collaborate with physicians to provide preventative services, emergency care, clinical diagnosis, therapeutic intervention and rehabilitation of injuries and medical conditions. The Athletic Training staff is responsible for preparing student-athletes for daily practices and weekly competitions, as well as coordination of medical referrals to ETBU Team Physicians and other medical professionals. Daily treatment and rehabilitation take place in one of two athletic training facilities located either in the Dean Healthplex or the Carlile-Howell Football Complex.

The Athletic Training Department works integrally with the Athletic Training Program (ATP) at ETBU. The ATP prepares athletic training majors for future careers in athletic training and sports medicine. Student athletic trainers are able to gain valuable clinical experience working alongside the Athletic Training staff at ETBU and other clinical rotation sites in the community including local high schools, rehabilitation facilities and physician offices.
