RICHARDSON, Texas – Barely missing out on the ASC Tournament for the second year in a row, East Texas Baptist University had four players earning all-conference awards in baseball last week. Tyler Bates earned first team honors, Phillip Windham was named to the second team, and both Wes Dorough and Kirby Moore earned honorable mention honors.
Bates also earned ASC first team honors last year, as well as being named the East Division freshman of the year and earning ABCA All-West region third team honors. Bates led the team in batting average and finished eighth in the conference in that category, as well as finishing tied for sixth in sacrifice flies and tied for fourth in steals.
Windham, an All-American, All-Region and ASC first team selection last year, was selected to D3baseball.com Pre-season All-American team after leading the conference in home runs last year. Windham repeated that feat this year, as well as finishing third in slugging percentage, tied for third in RBI’s and sixth in total bases.
Dorough, in his lone year at ETBU after transferring in from Oklahoma Christian University, finished third in the conference in caught stealings, as he threw out 15 runners on the bases this season.
Moore earned his first award at ETBU, finishing third in the conference in saves and tying for fourth place in appearances.
