MEMPHIS, Tennessee – In the first game of the Rhodes College Tip-Off Tournament, the East Texas Baptist University men’s basketball team (2-0) dominated offensively en route to a 112-69 win over Huntingdon College (0-2). ETBU shot 53.5% from the floor and made 23 three point field goals in the win.

Dylan Augustine continued his hot shooting to begin the season, as he knocked down six three pointers in the second straight game to finish with 18 points. Landin Brown knocked down four three pointers as he finished with a career high 16 points. Jordan Quillian reached the double-digit mark in rebounds for the second straight game as he finished with 10 boards to lead ETBU. 13 of the 16 players that played in the game made field goals to give the Tigers a balanced attack offensively.

With the many new faces for ETBU, seven players set new career highs all across the board. Jordan Gray added 11 points off the bench, Colten Wright led ETBU with four assists, and Dion Mack was second on ETBU with four rebounds to name a few. ETBU improved at the free throw line as they hit 13 out of 17 from the charity line. ETBU was 23-40 from behind the arc to set a new ETBU record for three pointers made in one game. ETBU had 27 assists in the contest and also finished with 11 steals, led by Tyler Day and Brown with two each.

Day finished with nine points on 3-5 from behind the arc, Davis Robinson and Paul Richard finished the day with eight points each. Clayton Stanley, Mack, Jay McKnight, and Robby Dooley each had six points for ETBU. Fletcher Forte had five points, and Chris Barrett, Will Thomas, and Hunter Book rounds off the scoring with two points each.

Huntingdon shot 43.1% from the field and was just 7-26 from behind the arc in the game. Scout Carson finished with 11 points to lead the team, and he also finished with 5 rebounds to lead Huntingdon as well. Huntingdon grabbed 41 rebounds as a team.

ETBU will play the winner of the Rhodes College and Wilmington College match up on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
