LONGVIEW, Texas – In the final game of the LETU Holiday Classic, the East Texas Baptist University men’s basketball team held off Schreiner University to win 78-76. This is the fourth win in a row for ETBU, as they move to 8-3 overall this season. Schreiner falls to 3-8 overall this season.

ETBU and Schreiner traded punches throughout the first half, exchanging six lead changes throughout the first frame. Chris Barrett delivered the big blow in the first half, knocking down a three before the buzzer, to give ETBU the lead 37-34 going into the break.

The second half was the same story as the first half. Schreiner jumped out to a nice start, gaining the lead early in the second half. ETBU and Schreiner would not decide the game until the final minute of the game where Dylan Augustine knocked down four free throws to give ETBU the lead for good.

ETBU was led by Clayton Stanley who had a career high 23 points. Augustine and Tyler Day finished with 12 points each, and Landin Brown added 11 points. Jordan Quillian had seven rebounds to lead ETBU, and Stanley added three along with Will Thomas. Augustine is three points shy of reaching 1,000 points in his career. ETBU shot 42% from the field, 50% from behind the arc, and 79% from the free throw line.

Schreiner was led by Keenan Gumps with 21 points and Blake Kelley added 12 points. Schreiner finished 53% from the field and 47% from the free throw line.
