RICHARDSON, Texas – The East Texas Baptist University men’s basketball team fell to the University of Texas Dallas on Thursday night, 65-73. ETBU and UT Dallas would trade blows throughout the game, until the Comets ultimately grabbed the lead late in the second half.
In a game that featured only three lead changes, UT Dallas controlled much of the lead with an explosive shooting night. ETBU gained an early control of the lead scoring the first bucket of the game. Each team had 73 possessions in the game, but UT Dallas capitalized on a big night from Caleb Banks and Kyle Coulter.
Dylan Augustine and Jordan Quillian led the way for ETBU with 13 points and 12 points respectively. Jordan Gray hit two big three point field goals late, and finished with eight points on the night. Landin Brown had a career high seven rebounds, and Quillian also finished with seven rebounds. Brown had a career game as he also had a career high 10 assists. He finished with eight points, seven rebounds, and 10 assists.
ETBU shot 39.4% from the floor, 30% from behind the arc, and shot a season low six free throws this season. ETBU finished the night with 31 rebounds and 18 assists as a team.
UT Dallas was led by Banks and Coulter who had 22 points and 16 points respectively. Dimitrius Underwood finished with a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds. UT Dallas shot 42% from the floor and 50% from behind the arc.
ETBU will return to action on Saturday against the University of the Ozarks. With the loss ETBU drops to 11-5 overall and 3-5 in ASC play. UT Dallas improves to 4-13 overall and 3-7 in ASC play.
