Fitzsimmons Earns ASC Sportsmanship Award; Three Named All-ASC

RICHARDSON, Texas – Earning four post-season awards from the American Southwest Conference, East Texas Baptist University had three players named all-conference.  Peter Fitzsimmons, Juan Ramirez, and Hugo Orta were all named to All-ASC teams.

Fitzsimmons brought two awards to ETBU as he was named the ASC men’s soccer “Sportsmanship Player of the Year” for his play on the field.  He was also named to the All-ASC first-team.   He finished the year leading ETBU with eight goals and 19 points while picking up three assists.  He was the ASC Player of the Week in September for his game winning goals vs. Texas-Tyler and LeTourneau. 

Ramirez was also voted onto the All-ASC first-team for ETBU.  He was second on the team with five goals and tied Fitzsimmons for the lead in assists with three posting 13 points. 

Finishing out the awards is Orta as he gained an honorable mention award for his play in the ASC.  He scored one goal and one assist on the year for three points. 

ETBU finished 4-10-1 on the year and defeated Texas-Tyler for the first time in the history of the program.
