Saturday, December 10 - Ryan Erwin (Vice President for Athletics)

The ETBU Softball team departed Houston on Saturday morning in route to San Jose, Costa Rica for a week of service, sharing, and softball in the first international athletic mission trip in the history of the university.  The 35-member group is kicking off the Tiger Athletic Mission Experience, which will allow every intercollegiate program to travel abroad and share Christ through sports.

The 3.5 hour flight was smooth and uneventful, even for several members who were flying for their first time.  After arriving in Costa Rica, the group proceeded through customs and boarded the team bus to head to the Youth With a Mission (YWAM) compound, which will serve as the team headquarters for the week.

Once unloading at the compound, the team met the YWAM staff and had a quick orientation session, before getting settled into their rooms and enjoying free time before dinner.

The group concluded the evening with a meeting and team discipleship lead by Dr. Scott Bryant.

On Sunday the team will worship at a local Costa Rican mega-church in San Jose prior to conducting several service projects around the YWAM compound.

Please continue to keep the ETBU Softball student-athletes and staff in your prayers. Pray for rest and good health this week for the entire group and that the team will be given opportunities and the courage to share their faith with the people of Costa Rica.
