MARSHALL, Texas – Reaching out to help families with cancer, the East Texas Baptist University softball team will have their annual Strike Out Cancer game on March 23rd vs. the University of Texas-Dallas. Each year the ETBU softball team raises money for their foundation to help families financially with cancer.
“Over the past few years we have had a Strike Out for Cancer game and the last three years we have been fortunate enough to raise quite a bit of money to help out a lot of local families,” says head softball coach Janae Shirley. “We set up a fund that all the proceeds go to ETBU families that have been affected by cancer.”
Last year, ETBU raised over $5,000 for the fund in conjunction with their game against Texas-Tyler. The softball team also sells t-shirts for $15 with all the money from the shirts going to the fund. On game day, they will also have a silent auction for items to help add to the fund.
To order a shirt, you can either print off the form from this article or email Janae Shirley at jshirley for a form.
