LOUISVILLE, Kentucky – The NFCA announced their 2014 all-region teams this past Sunday and the names of six East Texas Baptist University players were among those recognized. Lacey Lindsey, Jayme Perez and Kelly Jo McLendon were all named to the West Region’s first team while Lacy Liles and Shelby Parker received second team honors and Kaitlyn Hollingshead was named to the third team.
Lindsey is seventh in the ASC in batting average and runs scored, fourth in slugging percentage and walks, sixth in on base percentage, fifth in hits and is the conference’s leader in home runs, RBI’s and total bases. She was also named the ASC’s Freshman of the Year and earned conference first team honors as well as being named to the NCAA Tyler Regionals all-tournament team.
Perez was named an All-ASC first team performer this season and was named the NFCA’s National Hitter of the Week for May 7th after hitting five home runs in six ASC Tournament games. Perez is 10th in the conference in batting average and on base percentage, sixth in slugging and hits, third in RBI’s and total bases, fifth in home runs and ninth in walks.
McLendon is second in the ASC in ERA and opponent’s batting average, eighth in innings pitched and games started, sixth in strikeouts, fourth in wins and has issued the fewest walks of any pitcher in the conference. She was named to the ASC’s first team and was twice the ASC pitcher of the week this season.
Liles was an NFCA West region first team selection last year as well as an All-American. She was selected to CoSIDA’s academic all-district first team this year and was named to the ASC’s first team as well as a selection as the ASC’s hitter of the week for April 28th. Liles is seventh in the conference in slugging percentage, fourth in runs scored, total bases and walks, ninth in hits, and second in RBI’s and home runs.
Parker was recently named the Tyler Regional’s MVP after going 3-0 to help ETBU advance to the NCAA Super Regional Round. Parker was an NFCA all-region second team selection last year and was named to the ASC’s first team this year and also earned conference pitcher of the week honors twice and was named the NFCA’s national pitcher of the week for March 5th. She is fourth in the conference in ERA, third in opponent’s batting average, innings pitched and wins, second in games started and leads the conference in wins.
Hollingshead was named to the ASC’s third team this season. The freshman had a 16 game hitting streak at one point this year that raised her batting average from .312 to .402. She was also named to the ASC’s all-tournament team for her performance in the conference tournament.
