LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kolby Sharp continues to earn awards for her play as her latest award is being named to the AVCA NCAA Division III All-South Region team. She is only the third ETBU volleyball player to be named to the AVCA all-region team and the first since 2003.
Sharp is the first volleyball player since 2003 to earn this award and first under head coach Lyndsay Mashe. The last volleyball player to be named all-region was Arden Tunnell in 2003 on the honorable mention team. Allison Castillo was on the first team in 2002.
Helping ETBU to be the American Southwest Conference tournament runners-up, she was named to the all-tournament team to go with her second straight All-ASC first-team award. She has twice been named the player of the week this year and was the ASC’s preseason defensive player of the year.
She led ETBU in kills (367) and attack percentage (.393) and was second in blocks (157). In the ASC she is first in attack percentage and fifth in the NCAA.
Sharp was one of two ASC players named to the first team along with Texas-Dallas’ Taylour Toso as there were 14 players selected to the first team in the south region. Five ASC players were named all-region as three were honorable mention in Abbie Barth (UTD), Kayla Jordan (UTD), and Tori Martinez (HSU).
ETBU ended the year with 32 wins, a program and ASC best, and were the ASC Tournament runners-up just missing a bid to the NCAA Tournament.
