Bach-Prather, ETBU Hold "Run for Boston" Event
Monday, April 22, 2013

MARSHALL, Texas – A week after the bombings at the Boston Marathon, East Texas Baptist University honored the fallen victims with a “Run for Boston.”  Natalie Bach-Prather, the ETBU head cross country coach, put the event together to remember that day in Boston.

“Today we ran four loops in honor of each victim and had great support from the students and ETBU faculty and staff.  Each lap is in memory and honor of the people that lost their lives last week in Boston,” says Bach-Prather.  “We had several professors come out and our President Dr. Oliver and his wife participated, too.”

More than 40 people combined ran or walked the laps at two times on Monday at 11:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m.  They then took two group photos to send to the Boston Marathon to show their support.

Bach-Prather ran in the Boston Marathon on April 15th and finished the race in a personal best time of 3:29.44.  She left the bombing scene just five minutes before the explosion after recovering from her race.  With her time, she has qualified again for the 2014 Boston Marathon which would be her third time to run.

She is in her fourth year as the head women’s cross country coach and 2013 will mark the first season to be the head coach for both the men’s and women’s programs.
