RICHARDSON, Texas – With the 2013 fall season in the books, East Texas Baptist University had 44 athletes named American Southwest Conference All-Academic for their work in the classroom.   That number increased by 13 from 2012 for ETBU.

The women’s soccer team had the most of any team from ETBU listed with 15 and improved their numbers by six from 2012.  That was the second most for women’s soccer in the ASC behind UT-Tyler’s 16 athletes.  Following women’s soccer was football with 14 athletes which improved from eight in 2012.  Both the men’s and women’s cross country teams had three athletes each while men’s soccer had four athletes.  Volleyball finished with five athletes on the team to round out the 44 athletes that earned the award.

To be eligible for ASC All-Academic honors, student-athletes must be classified academically as a sophomore, junior, senior or graduate student during the competition season and have been in attendance and completed at least one academic year (two consecutive semesters) at their institution. They must also have a 3.0 cumulative grade point average (GPA) as certified at the conclusion of the academic semester in which the ASC sport championship is held.
