CLARKSVILLE, Ark. – Earning their second shutout in a week, East Texas Baptist University improved to 2-0 in the American Southwest Conference for women’s soccer. ETBU scored two quick goals and held onto the win over the University of the Ozarks improving to 3-3 overall.
Christina Robles was the playmaker for ETBU netting both goals within a five minute time span. Robles netted the first goal in the 42nd minute when she chipped in a shot over Ozark’s Codie Freeman’s head to make it 1-0 just before halftime. ETBU also out shot Ozarks, 8-6, in the first half.
Robles collected her second goal in the 47th minute just as the second half was beginning. Sasha Kotowych pushed the ball over to Robles who drew the Ozarks’ goalie out of the box for the easy goal, 2-0. ETBU once again out shot Ozarks, 11-9, in the second half and 19-15 overall.
Christina Salas picked up her second shutout in a week with a career-high 10 saves and faced 15 shots overall. Ozarks’ Freeman posted seven saves in the loss.
ETBU travels to Richardson, Texas, on Saturday for another American Southwest Conference match vs. Texas-Dallas.
