RICHARDSON, Texas – Five East Texas Baptist University women’s soccer players were selected to the All-American Southwest Conference teams after the teams eighth playoff appearance since joining the conference in 1999. ETBU had one player on the first team, two on the second team, one on the third team and one honorable mention along with a sportsmanship player of the year.
Christina Robles was selected to first team after leading the team in goals with five and assists with four, setting career highs in both categories and leading the team in shots on goal as well. This was her first all-ASC selection at ETBU. Robles’ goal in the 81st minute of the playoff contest with UT-Tyler sent the game into OT.
Kia Jelly and Kelsey Biscoe were named to the second team. Jelly was also a second team selection last year after leading the team in goals. She did not score a goal this year, but was a key contributor on defense, switching to that side of the field after a rash of injuries. Biscoe did not score a goal for ETBU this season, but did have three assists, and was also named to the second team for the second year in a row and was the ASC's sportsmanship player of the year.
Natalie Torres was selected to the third team. Torres tied for second on the team in goals with four, and made the third team after being an honorable mention selection last year. Torres scored a career-high two goals in a 6-0 win vs. LeTourneau.
Paola Bear was an honorable mention selection after being named to the conference’s all-academic team last year. Bear tied for second on the team in goals with four and also had two assists on the season.
